Peter Bjorn and John made quite a splash with their single Young Folks from their album Writer’s Block. Now they are back with a new album of indie pop that’s a really good and could produce a number of hits.
GimmeSome’s getting some good reviews especially with Living Thing, their 2009 release, giving people who were expecting another Writer’s Block a big surprise because of it’s completely different music direction. GimmeSome has a number of really good songs in it. It may not have a song that is as catchy as Young Folks but it also shows the band presenting a more mature sound.

3.jpgFor rock and roll fans, or music lovers in general, the concert season is one of the most hectic (and expensive) for them. It is during this season that fans use all their saved up money to buy that coveted concert ticket at a discount price if possible. However, there are instances wherein concert goes fail to reach the ticket office on time brought about by the traffic that commonly accompanies the concert season.

This is where scalpers make their living preying on addicted concert fans that often pay outrageous amounts just to see their favorite bands live (most of the time not even up close). It is wise for the music lover to always try and get your tickets ahead of time to further appreciate your favorite band.

4.JPGAnxiety is experienced mostly by new performers. Excitement can lead sometimes to tension that destructs your concentration. Some are not used to be seen in front of a huge crowd so they tend to break the expectations dealt upon them. Sometimes this situation can give trauma but there are lots of effective ways to rebuild confidence. You must first know the proper things to do after your performance to lessen your fear. Before performing, make sure that you have eaten only small amount of food for this might cause indigestion and always hydrate yourself by having water with you on stage. Confidence is your key to a better performance so be optimistic all the time so that you can make a break on the stage.

4.jpgFor really good upcoming bands, it is not uncommon that they suddenly find themselves immersed in instant stardom. The film Backstage portrays some of the events that can be experienced by upcoming bands like publicity stunts that are usually undertaken by music companies. The film also deals with potential dangers that are brought about by over zealous fans that most of the time act irrationally.

It is important to understand that the world of music is not all glamour; there is also intrigue and disappointments in the journey to the road of success. Preparation does not only involve practicing your music and playing smoothly as a band but being prepared as a group to handle all the hurdles that come with the journey to stardom.

Shows, no matter how small, can help you boost your career in the music industry. Small gigs serve as your stepping stones. Performing in one does not only add up to your portfolio but makes you seasoned artists as well.

Some of the most popular bands today were discovered while performing in places where the presence of talent scouts or managers were unexpected. Your gig just might be their next stop. So, perform like you have never before and catch their attention.

Small-time gigs are referred to as that because of the size of the venue and the amount paid for the band’s talent fee are relatively small. They are incomparable to what the posh hotels and big restaurants can offer but still, there are several groups who grab small bookings because they still pay the bills and serve as a venue for them to be heard and be seen by more people which would count a lot in terms of exposure.

Discipline can go a long way. Bands whose members possess this very important trait are sure to make it to the top. Those who do not have this will never make it. In fact, the lack of discipline is sometimes the reason why members part ways. Make an extra effort to not be one of them. Here are some helpful tips.
1. Be punctual and arrive on your gigs on time. Do the same on your band’s practice sessions.
2. Be mindful of band rehearsals. Group rehearsals are very important to fine tune everything before the gig.
3. Take all the necessary precautions to preserve your voice.
4. Do not mix work with pleasure. Doing both at the same time might bring downfall to your career.
